March Beauty Favourites

First off, a huge apology for being away for so long, but a combination of illness, school work and the promise of exams have meant I've been missing for a while. Sorry (really, I am!). To make up for my abysmal behaviour, behold: My March Favourites!

OOTD/ FOTD 2: Casually Coiffed...

I'm sorry I've neglected this blog recently, but I've been really sick, and then really busy, and then bla bla bla excuses. But hey, that's what I get for having the immune system of a kitten.

Anyway, I thought I'd share a few photos/stories from a party I went to at my best friend's house on Friday. I'll take a moment to show you some photos of me and go through what I'm wearing and then continue with the story.

So, here I am (the one on the far right of the top picture, and on the left of the bottom photo). I'm wearing:

February Inspiration Board:

This is the result of a lazy sunday in bed, with Foals' new album, Holy Fire (which is fantastic) blasting out. These are images I've taken/ found that have provided some much needed inspiration for fashion, hair and beauty. I'll go through them all, and talk about them a bit.

My 10 most reached for beauty products:

I think the title is pretty self-explanatory, so let's jump right in! Some of these products I use every single day, but every product I use more than once a week (depending on what my skin is like etc.) and they are in no particular order.

Just a side note: The photos aren't fantastic, due to the fact that these products are my favourites, and I use them all the time, so they're well loved (and a bit dirty!).

A very musical week

This week, I've been rediscovering a lot of songs/bands that I loved but don't listen to any more, so I thought I'd comprise a list of about five songs that you should listen to this week.
  1. DJ Shadow: Organ Donor. This song is super duper old, and many of you may recognise it from series 2 (I think!) of Skins. You know, when Sid takes that scottish E pill in the club? This song is just so mesmerising for me, and it's such easy listening. It seems to go well in any situation, be it running, sitting on the bus, partying. You name it and somehow it'll work.
  2. Avenged Sevenfold: Scream. This might not be everyone's cup of tea, and I admit, I wouldn't call myself a fan or anything, but I love this. I think the riffs are fantastic, the lyrics are clever and witty. It gets me PUMPED!
  3. Warpaint: Elephant. To be honest, anything by Warpaint. I've been rediscovering them ever since they came up on shuffle while I was studying a few days ago. They're all so incredibly talented and beautiful. I've never managed to find music that simultaneously makes you energetic and tired; until now. The music is so beautifully polyphonic, and topped so perfectly with Emily Kokal's haunting voice.
  4. King Krule/ Zoo Kid: Baby Blue. I've been a massive fan of Archy Marshall (AKA Zoo Kid, King Krule, DJ JD Sports) for bloody ages! I absolutely love his individuality, and the almost deconstructed feel of his music. Some of you may have heard of Out Getting Ribs (it was featured in places like the guardian a while back, but I don't think it's his best work. It's good; don't get me wrong, but I don't think it has what endeared me to him (not that I know what that is). Ocean Bed is also a fantastic song, but rather more upbeat. Baby Blue really knows how to calm me down (Can a song know how to do something? It can now.). King Krule is super hard to find online, but he's getting more publicity recently (I think he was one of Radio 1's Artists to watch in 2013, or whatever they call it, not long ago), so I hope his internet presence improves a bit.
  5. Foals: Dearth. AHHH! They're new album comes out in less than half an hour, I can not bloody wait! Again, this is a band I've had a ridiculously long love affair with, and I hope I shall continue to love just as passionately in the future. Dearth has always been one of my favourites by Foals, it's on the Gold Gold Gold EP. For a while, I had a tumblr by the same name, but I don't think anyone understood it. This song is great though, nothing feels quite perfect individually, yet it all works perfectly together; a rare and underrated quality I think. It's one of their less famous songs, and definitely deserves some more love. Absolutely worth a listen.
Hope this was some use to someone, if anyone wants to recommend more to me, don't hesitate to do so! I'm always on the hunt for new music!

OOTD/FOTD 1: Cheese Savouries and Cava

So, last night I went to a birthday party for one of my best friends, Martha. The dress code was "Dress pretty for me, or I'll make mince meat of ya." and ''Fucking posh mate, don't want no riffraff hangin' abowt.". Are you getting a feel for my friends yet?

I had a wonderful evening with my friends. Everyone ate, drank and were merry. There was wine, food, poetry and fantastic music and dancing. We were even treated to an impromptu Mona of Lambay concert (You can check them out here and here). They're like a female Simon and Garfunkel.

Anyway, I thought I'd share a few photos with you, tell you what I'm wearing on my face and my body. Excuse my extremely awkward photo faces/poses.

So, here we go; this is my face. I've slapped on it:
Lush Eau Roma Water (toner water)
Gale Hayman Youth Lift foundation in Porcelain
Nars Concealer in Light2/Vanilla
Natural Collection Loose Powder in Cool Translucent
Nars Blusher in Deep Throat
Smashbox eye pencil (used on eyebrows)
Nars Eyeshadow Duo in Kalahari
Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat pen in Shade 1
Mac Wonderwoman Penultimate Eyeliner in Rapidblack
Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effect Faux Cils Mascara in Shade 1
Chanel Le Crayon Kohl in Black Jade
Mac Venomous Villains Amplified Lipstick in Heartless

While I like what I did with my makeup, I felt as if I could have done more with my hair, but I just don't know how to style it. If anyone has any good tutorials/ ideas for really long hair, I would love to see them!

Here I am with Bethan and George. See what I mean about awkward photo pose?
I'm wearing:
Vintage Mickey Mouse shirt from Beyond Retro Stockholm
Bershka Bodycon skirt
Tesco Tights
Kurt Geiger London Gem Velvet Peep Toe Shoes

And this is me and my best friend George. Such a sweetheart.

Hope everyone's having a fabulous weekend so far.

Girls, Girls, Girls

So, I just quickly wanted to talk about a TV series I've really been loving recently: Girls. And none of my friends seem to watch it, so if any of you do, please come and talk to me and fangirl about it, because I don't think I can keep all of this bottled up much longer.

If you haven't heard of this before, it's basically about a group of four 20-something girls living in New York. Sounds like your average sitcom, right? Well yes, to an extent, but something about this programme really calls out to me. I think it's how relatable the main character, Hannah, is. She's a chubby, witty, indecisive klutz; I just love how raw and honest this series is. This really feels like something that could happen to me and my friends. The timing and delivery of lines is absolutely perfect, and Lena Dunham is fast becoming a girl crush and huge inspiration.

I've also been in Hannah's situation with Adam, but she dealt with it a lot better than I did. Adam looks almost identical to the Ex-boyfriend in question, which I still find so weird (even after a whole season). But I could totally relate to her feeling bad, and wanting to almost mother him to soften the blow.

And most importantly, the music on the show is absolutely incredible. We're talking tracks from Best Coast, Alt-J and Jay Z.

I've bought a lot of new things recently, so when they've all arrived, I'll do a post on them (some photos, reviews etc.).
